Employee Engagement Research and Recommendations

Working with Sarah Woodman, from ENSO HR Consulting, we were invited to work with her client, a midlands based construction company, to design and conduct an employee engagement survey. Sarah had been working with the organisation to develop the HR infrastructure, plus review the reward and benefits, provide management training and refresh the recruitment process. In order for Sarah to make meaningful change, she required data, ensuring all interventions were cost effective and necessary.

What we did

  • We met with the leadership team to gather comprehensive information on their current situation, their objectives and expectations. As this was the first time an employee survey had been conducted we answered many questions to ensure the client felt confident and equipped with the information needed to conduct the survey, plus respond to the results.
  • A series of qualitative interviews had already been conducted. We used the emerging themes, plus the information gathered in the meeting to design a bespoke survey, which we discussed and agreed with the client.
  • We created the communications plan for the client, ensuring they knew when, how and what to communicate with their employees
  • We launched the survey and invited participation via emails plus conducted telephone calls with members of staff that didn’t have access to email. All information was treated as confidential and stored in our system.
  • On completion, we gathered the data and produced a top level report which enabled Sarah and the leadership team to get started on a selection of initiatives. This was followed by a detailed report including analysis of significant results, highlighting correlations and trends. Included was a comprehensive set of recommendations to address the issues, plus make use of the success factors and opportunities.
  • Finally, we met with the leadership team, presented the data, responded to questions and provided the recommendations.
  • We’re looking forward to supporting the organisation on the implementation of recommendations as and when required!


We managed to achieve 100% survey completion which in itself is a success. Following on from the survey, we are working with a cross section of the organisation, helping them refresh their values and identify a framework of behaviours from which to integrate across the organisation.
